At Coffeeshop Creative we are not only passionate about designing and developing a unique web presence for our clients, but also sharing their stories. We are super excited to share another story in our series of blogs – Grabbing Coffee. Today’s feature is Toronto’s newest wellness and massage studio, WSB Massage! As we are designing the upcoming launch of their custom website, we recently caught up with founders, Cindy Won, and Devin Sauso-Bawa in Yorkville’s busy shopping core at Goldstruck Coffee. So sit back and grab yourself a cup of Java, and get to know a little about WSB Massage.
Tell us a little about yourselves?
Cindy: I’m a mom to a wonderful 17 yr old son (yes, I’m biased). While embarking on this new career in massage therapy I continue to sing a little professional opera when opportunities come up. I love all 3 jobs and can’t imagine my life without any one of them.
Devin: Most of my working life I spent in Australia but now that I’ve found a career that I’m passionate about I’m glad to be back home in Toronto. I’m a father to two little girls who still live overseas but with this new venture taking shape I’m hopeful they’ll be joining me by next spring.
WSB Massage – Cindy Won & Devin Sauso-Bawa
What was the inspiration for WSB massage and how the idea began?
Devin : I met Cindy at the Sutherland-Chan school and teaching clinic and as long as I’ve known her it’s been at the forefront of her mind that she would eventually have her own clinic space. They (she) say(s) that putting these thoughts out into the universe will allow for them to manifest and you wouldn’t believe how all of this seemed to fall into place in the last two months. It was waaayyyy sooner than either of us had anticipated but when the opportunity presented itself we just had to take it. As for me, well…I managed to convince her that she somehow couldn’t do this without me (I still can’t believe that she bought it). As for the name ‘WSB’, I’m sorry it’s not more exciting but they are the initials of our respective surnames.
Cindy: What he said 😉
WSB Massage – For Your Wellness, Spirit & Body
Well being and massage are vital for our body’s health, what techniques and suggestions do you have for better care of our bodies?
Devin & Cindy: Without question, we’d recommend diaphragmatic/deep breathing and being mindful of what your body is telling you because those aches and pains mean something. With the stress and pace of our lives these days we don’t find the time to slow down and just breathe. There’s always one more thing to do and looking after ourselves gets pushed down to the bottom of the list. Don’t feel guilty about taking some time to care for yourself; be it a nap, a walk outside, dancing it out to your favourite tunes or coming in for a massage. It’s not an indulgence, it’s a necessity. We only have one body for this lifetime.
What techniques of massage and wellness do you feature at WSB massage?
Cindy & Devin: We wouldn’t necessarily say that we ‘feature’ any specific massage techniques, unless you think that ‘patient-centred care’ falls under that heading. We’re both trained for deep tissue, hydrotherapy, Swedish massage, etc., but to us, everything comes back to using what’s appropriate for the person that’s in front of us. While in school there was an on-running joke that in hindsight actually sums it up best: “it depends, everybody’s different”.

Most importantly, favourite style/type or how do you take your coffee?
Devin & Cindy: We don’t have coffee on a regular basis but when we indulge we share the same taste; double shot americano…black.
